Sciatica Relief:

Expert Care at Honeycomb Health Clinic

What is a Sciatica?

Sciatica refers to pain that originates from the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. Sciatica typically occurs when a herniated disc, bone spur, or other condition puts pressure on the sciatic nerve.

Common Symptoms

  • Lower Back Pain: Often accompanied by pain radiating down the back of one leg.
  • Leg Pain: Can be sharp, burning, or tingling, typically down the back of the leg.
  • Numbness/Tingling: Common in the leg or foot, often along the path of the sciatic nerve.
  • Muscle Weakness: Difficulty moving or controlling the leg or foot.

Causes and Risk Factors

  • Herniated Disc: A disc in the spine protrudes and presses on the sciatic nerve.
  • Spinal Stenosis: Narrowing of the spinal canal compresses the sciatic nerve.
  • Degenerative Disc Disease: Discs lose their cushioning ability over time.
  • Spondylolisthesis: A vertebra slips out of place and pinches the nerve.
  • Muscle Imbalances or Poor Posture: Can contribute to nerve irritation.
